The Role:  

As a Business Development Director, you are the face of Sol to our new and existing clients. This is a high-impact role centered on cultivating deep partnerships with senior client stakeholders and translating those relationships into new and expanded business for Sol. You have a natural ability to spot growth opportunities while maintaining a deep commitment to long-term client success.  

You proactively identify new client partnerships and opportunities, shape new engagements, and close business, while ensuring every active account reinforces Sol’s reputation as an indispensable partner. You also own a portfolio of existing client relationships and are directly accountable for growing revenue within those accounts. Business development and revenue generation are not a secondary responsibility; it is the core of the role.  

You invest deeply in understanding each prospective and current client’s business, their strategic priorities, competitive pressures, and internal dynamics so that Sol is always one step ahead of their needs. You work closely with the delivery teams supporting your accounts, ensuring the quality of execution reinforces client trust and opens doors to further partnership. The Director role builds upon the Associate Director level by placing client establishment, account growth, and relationship depth at the center of everything you do.  

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Identify and pursue net-new client opportunities through targeted outreach, your own senior level network, referral networks, and strategic prospecting. Lead pursuit efforts from first contact through close, collaborating with practice leads to craft tailored proposals that differentiate Sol. Maintain a disciplined pipeline of new opportunities and report regularly on new business activity to senior leadership.  
  • Own and deepen relationships with senior client stakeholders (CIOs, COOs, CTOs, and beyond), acting as a trusted advisor who earns access at the highest levels and becomes embedded in their strategic planning process.  
  • Drive business development across your client portfolio, identify expansion opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and lead the pursuit process from initial conversation through contract close. Partner with Sol’s practice leads to design solutions that align client needs with our capabilities.  
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of each prospective client’s and active client’s business model, organizational dynamics, and long-term priorities. Use that knowledge to anticipate needs, frame Sol’s value in terms that resonate with each stakeholder and consistently position the firm for new opportunities.  
  • Maintain account plans for each prospective client and client relationship, tracking relationship health, revenue pipeline, and expansion targets. Orchestrate regular touchpoints from informal check-ins to formal QBRs that strengthen trust and surface new opportunities before they go to market.  
  • Partner with the Solution Delivery Director on active engagements to understand delivery progress with an eye toward relationship impact ensuring every project milestone reinforces client confidence and creates a natural bridge to the next conversation. Mentor delivery team members to develop their own relationship-building instincts.  
  • Build and nurture a broad external network including current clients, former stakeholders, and industry contacts to generate referrals, surface market intelligence, and open doors to new accounts. Represent Sol at industry events and forums as a credible thought leader in our practice areas.  

Qualifications:  

  • 10–15+ years of experience in consulting, with a demonstrated focus on business development, client relationship management and account growth,  
  • 5+ years in a client-facing consulting role with direct accountability for revenue targets, account expansion, or origination at a top-tier or specialized boutique firm.  
  • An established network of senior-level relationships you can activate immediately. You bring existing relationships with CIOs, COOs, CTOs, and beyond who trust you and want to work with you today and long- term. Relationships that can translate into warm introductions and conversations within your first weeks here.  
  • Proven track record of independently identifying, pursuing, and closing net-new client relationships, with specific examples of new accounts won, revenue generated, and the strategies used to break in.  
  • Track record of growing client accounts and closing new business with concrete examples of expanding relationships from a single engagement into multi-workstream partnerships and measurable revenue growth.  
  • Exceptional executive presence and communication: ability to read a room, build rapport quickly, and navigate complex stakeholder dynamics.  
  • Strong commercial acumen and pipeline discipline you manage your book of business with rigor, tracking relationship health, opportunity stages, and revenue forecasts.  
  • Skilled at crafting compelling narratives whether in a pitch, a proposal, or a client presentation that connect Sol’s capabilities to each client’s most pressing priorities in a way that wins business and deepens trust.  
  • Preferred but not required: Experience in one or more of Sol’s practices areas/sectors: AI Acceleration, Advertising Technology (AdTech), Workforce & Operations Systems, Media & Broadcasting or State/Local Government & Education.

Compensation:  

Base Salary $200k – $250K per year. In this role you will participate in an annual discretionary bonus, aligned to company performance and the achievement of key business and operational objectives. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
